Application

All students requesting on-campus housing during winter recess must submit an application via the Residential Portal.  The winter recess housing application will open on Monday, October 7, 2019.

Deadlines

A series of strict application deadlines are followed for winter recess housing applications.  Fees will be assessed to a student's account for late submissions - regardless of the application decision.  Please refer to the table below for more information:

Applications will not be accepted after November 25, 2019.

Eligibility

Students requesting on-campus housing during winter recess must be a current undergraduate student living on-campus during the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 terms.

  • Students participating in a study abroad experience during the Fall 2019 term are permitted to return to campus starting at 9 AM on Friday, January 17, 2020.  Students participating in a study abroad experience during the Spring 2019 term are not eligible for winter recess housing and must vacate their housing assignment by 5 PM on Friday, December 20, 2019.

All students with spring 2020 housing assignments may return to campus for Wintersession beginning at 9 AM on Friday, January 17, 2020 and are not required to submit a housing application.

Pre-Approved Housing Needs

Below is a list of reasons that are generally honored for winter recess housing, broken down by each recess period.  While these are designed to serve as examples for planning purposes, every student requesting housing must submit an individual application for consideration.  Submission of a housing application is not an approval or guarantee of winter recess housing.  All approvals for winter recess housing are conditional and subject to being rescinded.  

Winter Recess I - Friday, December 20, 2019 - Thursday, January 2, 2020

Winter Recess II - Thursday, January 2, 2020 - Friday, January 17, 2020

International students are not automatically approved for housing.  Student must have demonstrable need in order to remain in residence.

Students requesting housing for thesis writing, lab research, internships and/or employment are required to submit contact information for their supervisor/adviser as part of their housing application.  Your supervisor/adviser will be required to electronically acknowledge (via the Residential Portal), your request for on-campus housing before your application can be submitted for review.  Students are responsible for following up with their supervisor/adviser to ensure this process is completed within the application period.

Students requesting housing due to taking a standardized test (i.e. GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc) must provide documentation of registration for an exam.  Registration documentation must include the date, time and location of the test.  Please upload the documentation via the portal. .
