In order to establish a gift account, student organizations must demonstrate a foreseeable long-term contribution to the College community and a need for such an account. In addition, organizations must provide evidence of a successful history of fundraising. To begin the process, an organization completes the Fundraising and Gift Account Request form. Once completed, submit the form, along with a current organization budget, solicitation/donor letter (if fundraising), and any other relevant supporting documents the organization wishes to include, via email to email@example.com. Once the documents are reviewed, a meeting will be scheduled with the Director of Student Programming, Amy Vest, and student organizations leaders to review the request.
Similar to gift accounts, student organizations that wish to establish an endowment account must also demonstrate a foreseeable long-term contribution to the College community and a need for such an account. In addition, organizations wishing to open an endowment fund will need $100,000 in order to establish the fund. The organization will work with the OSI to outline legally binding terms of the endowment that describe how the fund and its income will be used in perpetuity. All terms must be approved by the student organization president, the Associate Dean for Student Engagement, and the Recording Secretary, in coordination with the Alumni & Development Office, if necessary. For more information on endowment accounts, email the OSI at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If approved for a gift account or endowment fund, student organizations must submit an initial deposit in order to establish the fund. The process for requesting gift accounts involves several steps and offices throughout the University. Student organization leaders should allow at least 8-10 weeks for the fund to be fully established and ready to receive donations.
Once the fund is established, student organization leaders can monitor balances by emailing Amy Tsang, Financial Manager for the DSO, at email@example.com.
