Harvard College student organizations get resources like financial support, marketing, and meeting spaces. To access these resources, you need to follow the processes outlined in our policy guide. We created these guidelines to help you thrive and build an inclusive and safe community.

Update On Student Recognition  

The Office of Student Engagement has enacted a pause on recognizing new student organization for the 2023-2024 academic year. During this pause, the College will not be recognizing new independent student organizations. This pause will last for 1 academic year and will allow the Office of Student Engagement to perform a thorough review and audit of the College’s current student organization environment. This review will provide the College with a greater understanding of how students and the College engage with independent student organizations. Students will be active participants in the review and this process will result in a new student organization recognition process that best supports students and their organizations.

Reporting a Student Organization

If you are concerned about a recognized Harvard College Student Organization not upholding the policies and regulations contained in both the Student Handbook and the Student Organization Resource Guide, please share your concern by completing the online form.

Please note that concerns related to sexual harassment or other sexual misconduct can be raised to College Title IX. For information about options and resources, as well as filing a formal complaint, please visit here: https://titleix.college.harvard.edu/

Submit a Report

The Office of Student Engagement is responsible for investigating all reports related to misconduct from our student organization community. When necessary, Student Engagement will collaborate with the Office of Academic Integrity and Student Conduct.  

Please note that reports are not monitored 24/7. If this is an emergency, please report your concern immediately to a staff member or the Harvard University Police Department.  

Frequently Asked Questions

How do student organizations register an event through SOCO?

If you are a listed officer, you can complete event registration through SOCO. To register, offices should select the “Events” tab on the SOCO homepage. Students will then be guided to the event registration form. You should read all instructions carefully and fill out all required information. Please note that the form is not submitted until you hit “Submit” on the very last page of event registration form.
